Ruler of the Black Flame from the Scarlet & Violet series
Ruler of the Black Flame is an expansion from the Scarlet & Violet series and has the set code SV3 in Japan. The Japanese release appeared on July 28, 2023, and contains five randomly assembled cards per Booster Pack. The set combines the Teracrystal mechanic with popular Pokémon and is aimed especially at fans of Asian Pokémon cards.
Teracrystal Charizard-ex at the center
The central Pokémon of the set is Charizard-ex as a Teracrystal Pokémon of the Darkness type. Although the card is classified as a Darkness Pokémon, it uses Fire Energy for its attacks. The unusual combination of a black card design, crystal-like appearance, and one of the most popular Pokémon makes Charizard-ex a special highlight of the expansion.
New Teracrystal Pokémon with a changed type
With Ruler of the Black Flame, Teracrystal Pokémon-ex whose card type differs from their original Pokémon type appear for the first time. In addition to Charizard-ex, the set contains other Teracrystal Pokémon such as Tyranitar-ex and Scovillain-ex. These type changes create new possibilities both visually and in gameplay within the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
More Pokémon-ex and special illustrations
In addition to the Teracrystal Pokémon, Ruler of the Black Flame contains other Pokémon-ex such as Pidgeot-ex and Revavroom-ex. They are complemented by elaborately illustrated cards depicting Pokémon, Trainers, and scenes from the Paldea region. This means the set offers not only strong Playing cards but also numerous interesting motifs for Collectors.
